Default Gutting my Cats

Will I benefit by gutting my converters any? I really don't mind gutting them because passing an inspection is not a problem where I work. But will I experiance any low end loss or will it help make power?

I need your opinions!

personally don't see the point, do you have any mods?

To see gains you'll need a good catback and to do headers and Y pipe also.

I read in gm hitech performance it is good for 7 hp. They didn't have any dyno info though. Anyone have any actual info between cats and no cats?

unless you are trying to maintain the "stock" look..

if you worked hard enough and hid your lines good, i think you could see a "stock" ls1 into the 11s. my buddy and i are contemplating the same thing..

It's not going to cost you any power. You'll probalby pick up a couple hp. I gutted mine just for the sound. It's alot louder now .

Advantages is sound and some HP and TQ gain. Disadvantages is that you ruin your cats for life and cannot pass smog with the stock Y inplace gutted. Why not just get an ORY for stock manifolds? Stock Y's come in handy when smog time rolls around...

I would just take off the cats. It will sound better than gutting them.

O2 sims will do it, but those are a about $80 if my meory is to be trusted. I'd like to gut cats for sound too, and also for the minimal performanmce gains.

You can have them turned off in the PCM if you can find somebody near you with some tuning software, or spend $50 for some used ones. They're always for sale in the Parts For Sale section.
