Default Too loud for my son

I don't know crap about ehausts but, have been trying to research extensively including LS1sounds. I want a system that is deep and rich sounding and, of course louder than stock. My concern is this will be my daily driver with my 5 year old son frequently in the back.
For the week I drove my car I was afraid the STOCK was too loud for him but, it relaxed him right to sleep. Any thoughts on finding a happy medium between stock and deafening my child? Or anything to stay away from? I.E. SLP Loudmouth. Thanks all

yeah the loudmouth is well...loud. But syetems like the magnaflow and hooker are pretty tame when cruising around. If you want really quite with good flow check out the slp dual dual system.

Depends if you're going to do headers or not, a loudmouth (as the name implies) is pretty f'n loud even with stock manifolds, if you're looking for quiet with good flow look at the hooker catback, or the SLP dual dual, both are relatively quiet (even with headers)
FYI our 6 month old (foster son) loved the sound of my T/A with a Rumbler catback, he would always grin great big when I'd rev it

i have magnaflow, and it's very raspy and sharp sounding. at cruising speeds and not getting on the throttle it's very quiet, but will be loud and nasty sounding hwen you want it to be, check it out ps. you dont have to buy the entire 400$ catback, just look for the muffler and have the exhaust shop weld it in for you it's WAY cheaper that way!

Oops. I did forget to mention that I was planning on headers. By the way did you get my PM reply?

Ill be honest...I have Loud Mouth, Long tubes, and not cats and, as weird as this may sound, the hummmm relaxes me so much. I just say that cause you said your exhaust puts your son to sleep.

Ear plugs should do the trick

I have got a loud mouth right now. If you want something fairly quiet dont getl this. The SLP dual daul is pretty good.

You can get the stainless steel Magnaflow catback for less than $400. Check some of the sponsor's prices and then check on E-Bay. I bought my Magnaflow brand new in the box for $350 shipped off of E-Bay. It's well worth the money for a full stainless steel catback. I'm running the Magnaflow stainless steel catbacks on my '01 Camaro SS and '03 Cobra and love the sound on both cars. The Magnaflow is pretty quiet when driving around normally, but when you get into the throttle it opens up a good bit.

Didn't pop up that I had a PM, just replied
If you plan on headers, then stay far away from the LM, you'll deafen yourself, and your son will probably crap himself the first time you rev it.
Hooker or dual dual are pretty mellow throughout the RPM range, even with headers
Off road Ys usually make the sound louder, and raspier, but with the hooker it still sounds pretty mellow

My dad has a hooker on his TA it has a real nice tone at crusing speed but wakes up quit a bit when you put your foot in. From all the exhausts i've been in i would say its the best exhuast for someone who wants a nice tone but not loud like a GMMG or loudmouth.

I have MAC/ORY and a Magnaflow exhaust with a bullet in the I-pipe. I drove with the whole family (wife, 4, and 1 year old) to the track and the kids always fall asleep. The sound is mesmerizing to them. I would not go any louder though.

I can Speak on this. I have a 6yr old Daughter. Right now i have a GMMG exhaust on theback of mine 00z28 with all else stock. My daughter dose not think its to loud sheactualy likes the sound. I drive bad from My dads which takesabout20 minn. And she isout cold., Idont suggest trying a Cutout.Or SLPloud Mouth. You need to Lookaround for Mainly Exhaust that givse a ( Good Performance Tuned sound ) to it, Good luck

My 6 year was able to fall asleep in my car and I have the GMMG. Of course any medium to hard acceleration would wake him up instantly but then that is good motivation to drive sanely

I had an SLP Dual/Dual and I could almost fall asleep to that exhaust sound. Very quiet. At first the GMMG sounded much louder but at idle it just has a nice low growl to it and at highway speed there is no drone at all under 2k.
