Default magnaflow cat-back vs magnamouth

well i might be going to do an off road y-pipe setup with long tubes and i was thinking about the magnaflow cat-back, then i got to thinking about getting a loudmouth and put a magnflow muffler in place of the bullet, that seems like it would flow good because it is all straight through.

does anybody know how the muffler is designed on magnaflows cat-back system because its single in/dual out, so im not sure how its setup.

and what is the difference between the loudmouth and loudmouth 2 (maybe i should have searched about that one but i guess im lazy)

i assume the magnamouth would be louder than the cat-back, but do you think it will have a nicer tone?

thanks for the help

I have a LM 1 (means it has the resonator instead of the LM bullet muffler).

Magnamouth = loud attention getting wicked crazy race engine
Magnacat = smoother, less loud growl, but not as attention getting

ls1sounds.com is a great resource

ive been to ls1sounds looking through exhaust clips for about 2 months now, there arent to many people with borlamouth or a dynomouth, i figured making a magnamouth would be cheaper than using a borla muffler but be quieter than going with a dynomax muffler.

i dont care if its loud as hell at WOT but i dont want the cruising drone that i hear the loudmouth is good for, and i figured that a magnamouth setup would flow better than the magnaflow cat-back

i would like to know how the magnaflow muffler is designed in their cat back system, because, i hate the idea or the exhaust making a 180* turn inside the muffer.

i like both kits because they are stainless, so im stuck which would be a better setup

and i dont plan on running cats

I would do the magnamouth just because it will be lighter, and the tips look better.

I have Kooks longtubes, ORY and a magnaflow cat back. I think it sounds great. Its not annoying (loud) at idle, doesn't drone, is livable at highway speeds and sounds flat out nasty at WOT. Im very satisfied with the whole set up except for one thing, the Y pipe hits the floor occasionally. That will be adressed this week yet.

I was thinking about Magnamouth myself, but haven't been able to find out how the drone(if any) compares to the bullet in my Rumbler right now. I don't mind my exhaust being loud, but the drone is starting to get old to me after almost a year. Combined with the 3.73's it makes it hard to even take a phone call in the car.

The main problem with the Magnaflow catback that many people experience is when they are using the Magnaflow y-pipe. It's freaking horrible. After having a custom y-pipe made with a much better merge and having a lot of the exhaust welded up the tone completely changed. A lot smoother, less rasp, and a much deeper less tinny sound.

As for the flow of the Magnaflow muffler. It's kind of strange. For the passenger side tip it's almost a direct connection. the exhaust does not go through the whole muffler. Hence why the passenger side exhaust tip is louder when you put your head near and why the Magnaflow being a fairly quiet muffler at idle screams at WOT.

edit: Crap my picture didn't work.

Just got the borlamouth on the car with a cam. It's not quiet by any means but the 1800-2000rpm drone is gone!
