If you look in one side, you'll see bumps.

if you look in the other side, you'll see bumps with holes.

the side that you only see the bumps is the inlet.

And make sure any writing or numbers stamped into the muffler faces UP.

On a dynomax bullet? Mine were flat perforations, not scalloped like a chambered muffler. I dont believe a bllet muffler has an inlet and outlet.

Im Not Sure That This One Is A Dynomax, There Are No Markings On The Case And It Is Used. It Has Bumps With Holes On One Side Like Naveyblue2000 Said

dynomax bullets are smooth, straight through.

The holes you see... are they cupped as if they'd scoop air up into the packing??? If so, then you don't have a bullet, my friend... just a good ol' glasspack.

Im with you Goblin, except that a chambered muffler IMO is like the GMMG. Simply a section of piping that has numerous crimps in it to dissrupt flow slightly. If your muffler has RAISED perforations that are open on one side(as if to allow exhaust in) than, you have a old fashion glass pack.. If it is flush, with no obstructions thru(see Goblins pic), it is indeed a bullet. Really, I guess any of the long cylintrical mufflers can be refered to as, in the basic sense, a "BULLET" muffler.

I thought cherry bombs were glass packs. Cherry bombs look just like that bullet on the inside.

I thought Cherry Bombs(the actual brand) were glasspacks also. A shop here carries them and they are louvered like a glasspack.

I must be mistaken then. I haven't seen the inside of one in a while. I had them on my 71 a while back. I thought they just had holes in them. My bad.

I didn't realize a bullet muffler was as simple as that... How much "muffeling" does a bullet muffler do?

As little as possible! Thats the point. It mainly lessens the gargle and popping that LS1's are known for.

I feel it does quite a bit, atleast considering it does so without impacting the exhaust flow If youve ever heard the difference between straight pipe and a bullet, Im certainly surprised how much it tones things down, especially if theres exhaust piping after the bullet.

Now, as MavrikTA alluded to, The bullet is still ungodly loud, and does not compare to a normal muffler, but it isnt quite as loud as open pipes either.

I had open headers fr a while and that was ungodly loud...

How would bullets compare?

Itll definately tone it down a bit from open headers, but depending on how long the exhaust it it could be anywhere from 75% to about 50% as loud as it was.

By the way, I wakeboard too. Got any tips on getting my handlepass HSFS 3's down? The toeside 5 almost seems like it would be easier... Sadly the lake is still a big block of ice

Awesome that is the loudness I want! About 1/2 the volume would be awesome... I just want to tone it down a little!

Yah, I wake board. I just got a hyperlite Era 137, with Era bindings... I have not been wakeboarding in about a year since I hurt my begining of last season...

But anway I suck at TS... It's like throwing a ball left handed for me... It just does not feel right... Sucks that your lake is frozen.... I live in FL so I dont have to worry about that! I go tubing in Dec.!!!
