Default foam gasket for lid

I just installed a used MTI clear lid on my LS1 and just read somewhere about a foam gasket. The lid did not come with any foam gasket and the left clamp has been popping off. I read about the placement of the front lip in the groove on the bottom lid and am gonna check it out tomorrow.
Does the foam gasket need to be on the bottom of the lid and if so where can I buy one?
Another ideas about why its not sealing up properly?

I think my foam gasket came with my K&N filter, not with the lid. Mine is tight, no popping of the clips.

like already mentioned, the gasket comes with a K&N air filter, since the foam perimeter is not thick enough to seal on its own. Fram and other air filters do not require a foam gasket. If you need one for your K+N, just get some 1/4" weatherstripping.

If you don't have one than you need to get one. You are not having a good seal and you could be getting dirt in you engine. If you call K&N they will usally send you one at no cost the did for my buddy. So its worth a try. If not you could try the weatherstripping just make sure the seal is good. K&N WITH NO SEAL=VERY BAD.

Yup. only needed for the K&N, basically becuase they didn't want to build a filter that actually fits.

Well I have a firebird not a camaro and I'm running a custom foam gasket to make the seal between the ramair and the filter assembly.

Oh btw regarding the type of foam it is a thick material somewhat similar to weatherstripping but seemingly more durable.
