Default Exhaust loudness in db

Theres all these posts about which exhaust is louder and all that, that is pretty much up to the person. So I thought how loud would they be Decibel wise. Does anyone have these readings on any exhaust? Also for compareison what would some other common noises be? I would think this would be a better way of decideing which exhaust is loud.

At one time there was a chart in the stickies that showed the db level for several different exhausts, but I'll be damned if I can find it

I checked mine last year, I believe it was 97 or 98db while revving, with just the gmmg catback. If the weather clears up this weekend Ill do it again because I want to know anyway so I could recheck after my longtubes, catted y, and cam

When I had a TR224 cam and S2 heads with a straight through muffler I was recorded at 97db while revving. Stainless Works 3-1/2" muffler, no cats.

I would say that most complaints are not about total loudness, but about drone and rasp - the quality of the sound.

How are you going to test the loudness? I mean will it be with stock manifolds and cats, or longtubes with a catted Y, or longtubes with ORY, or shorties with a catted y, or shorties with ORY, or stock manifolds and ORY, or stock manifolds and SLP y, and then there's the whole engine part, cams change sound as do strokers, and blowers.

I was at autox one day when a guy came up to me and asked if I wanted to know the db level. He stood about 50 feet away, but parallel to the car ( the side ).

Isnt there a db limit for street cars? Does it vary from state to state?

Federal standard is 80db, at 50 feet at idle, most states use this standard, tho enforcement is usually up to the cop.
Certain towns/citys have specific ordinances dealing with noise
