what brand ??? my QTEC leaks a bit but my exhaust is fairly loud so I don't care..I did at one time but my friends said I was the only person on Earth who could hear it!!!!...some guys put some RTV sealant on the base so the butterfly sits against it when closed...but some say this doesn't work too well or too long....ANYBODY.???......

Mine would do the same thing. I hated the hell out of the QTP's that I had. They were utter trash IMO.

I have seen this done. It isn't easy, but is relatively cheap and it supposedly works DAMNED well. I saw a car with dual cutouts that had taken a header reducer and welded actual screen (yes, house door stuff) to the back end. Inside was stuffed a little with attic insulation. It amounted to a 3-4" muffler immedeatly after the cutouts. They said it made the exhaust sound a TON better with the cutouts open and completely eliminated ANY leaking noises!

I have had a QTP on my car for 3 years now. Can't complain about it yet!

They don't hermetically seal, mine always leaked around the butterfly a little when closed.

I'm inclined to believe they pretty much all leak to some extent. Mine does a little but no more than what seeps past the head pipe going into the cat.
