Default Intake

Intake mods will be in the near future. A lot of people choose ram air, but ive read up on it and it seems cold air provides more performance gains. If I go with cold air it would be the SLP Flow Pac Cold Air Induction System. Would does everybody else run and hows the performance gains?

Just get a lid..... SLP stuff is pretty much a waste of $$ IMHO.

I've installed the flowpac on my 02 Z28 over the weekend, and I did notice an increase in performance over stock set-up. The car became more alive - as I put it. Of course I plan to dyno the car to verify this.

Based on the experience of installing this kit - looking at what the stock system was composed of compared to the parts and installation instructions from the SLP flowpac kit requires. I've came to the following conclusions;

1) You can do the free ram air mod - it can be found on this site. The only modification I would make is to add rubber seals to the bottom of the air filter base to form essentially a cold air box (ie ensuring that none of the air goes into the engine compartment, and to ensure that any hot air in the engine compartment doesn't get into the air box).

2) The only other items you'll need are the lid and bellows.

Home Depot Racing lol. Fernco makes rubber sewer line connectors. A 3"x3" fernco coupler fits in place of the stock accordian bellow. Makes about a farts difference in a hurricane as far as performance goes, plus they are not as flexible as the stock units and like to crack airlids.

You could get a lid AND a ram air setup if you'd like, but definatly get a new lid first.

And BTW - your air is not going to get any "colder" than with a ram air setup.

lid, and ram air here, personally I like the chute, but fast toys make the super sucker, might be a good slp alternative.

Yeah. I have always liked my SSRA...supposed to see gains of 15 hp at 60 mph - not sure on the truth of that but none the less I like mine.

Read that damn sticky as well!
