I think alot of it depends on the headers. For my pacesetters I removed the passengers side plugs and coil packs and the dipstick tube. But looking back at it, I probably could have done just fine removing only the dipstick tube.

trying to not take things apart will only result in alot of wasted time and you taking it off anyway. If you think for even a second taking something off might help, just save yourself the hassle and do it!

Does taking out the spark plugs help keep from breaking them when doing the install?

Thats why I took em out, I really wasn't diggin the prospect of breaking a spark plug. Although I bet if you're careful you could get them in without removing them. Getting the old manifolds off though... not so sure

I got my old manifolds off, and put the headers in without removing the plugs, and I didn't break or damage any of them, so it is possible (tho I recommend getting a set of plugs just in case)

It's actually very easy (I was surprised at how simple it was) the tough part is undoing, and re installing the bolts, you have to get your hands and arms in some awkward positions, and some of the bolts are taken out, and put back in 2 clicks of the rachet at a time, I'd definately reccomend getting an air wrench

I thought it would be hard and it wasn't at all. I removed all plug wires, and the #5 spark plug. I put both headers in from the bottom. The dipstick tube has to be removed no matter what, and that was the only bad part for me, I wrecked mine and had to get a new one from the dealer for $15.

also I would invest in a set of arp header studs, makes hanging them and the gaskets a breeze. they will set you back about 80 bucks but their worth it, do not forget to antiseize them.
