Default Exhaust leak where one pipe goes into the other

I have a set of headers that uses the Random Tech cat and mid pipe system. Random states that no clamps are required yet I have exhaust leaks where the pipes go together. I have a band clamp on the connection, but it didn't help much. Other than welding, has anyone found a sure fire way to stop this leak?

I have heard about people using RTV around the connection...there is also some wrap that you can use that should work.

The only sure way to stop leaks though is to get it welded...there is no way around that as much as I wish there was.

High temp RTV will work. I used some stuff called Chamber Seal and it worked very well. You can only find it at motorcycle shops. You will need 2 packs.

Can you get it apart again too? Problem is this joint must be broke for a clutch installation. Welding is out of the question unfortunately or I would.

Get the walker heavy duty wide band clamps. They come with a sealer for the joint where the clamp goes together and have top quality hardware - when you crank them down the stainless stretches and forms right around the joint - really work well.

Using a dremmel or fine toothed hacksaw, cut three short notches in the female pipe. This way the clamp will be able to compress the pipe for a tight fit. Also, like the fellas already mentioned, some high temp, o2 sensor-safe sealer might help seal the joint.
