Default LS6 manifold with EGR or not?

UPDATE: Ok guys I just received the pacesetter LT headers. They're ceramic coated, but I got them used. I was wondering if I should install the headers in my car now. I still have my stock y pipe. What are your suggestions? I just recently got a LS6 manifold from a 01 LS1 and I read that, If i had a LS6 manifold with the EGR hole then I wouldn't be able to run racestyle headers is that true? I know mine doesn't have the EGR hole, but I was just curious. What is EGR anyway?

EXHAUST GAS RESERCULATION It puts exhaust gases back into the engine for cleaner emissions.

you can still run race style headers. You just need to block off the egr port. the only manifold to come with the egr and a flat bottom is the slp version. its no big deal blocking it off. then with the air you just pull that **** out and get rid of it.

RESERCULATION = Recirculation

Yes, you can still run race-style headers. I've been running race-style Pacesetters for a year and a half, and I'm an 00 car with a LS1 intake w/EGR. Just block the hole off and you'll be fine.

well I plan on putting on this 01 LS6 manifold soon so I won't need to block off the EGR right?

You can keep right on using the EGR untill you get the headers, or you can plug it now. If you do this, you'll also have to block off the exhaust manifolds.

My suggestion, keep runing the EGR untill you get the headers, then get rid of it, stick a 1-3/8" adjustable freeze plug in the hole, and have the AIR/EGR/Rear O2 codes deleted.

If I install my LS6 manifold I can't use my EGR right because there's no EGR hole? Should I install it now or wait till I get my racestyle headers?

Wait wait wait. You said yours DOESN'T have the hole.

Unless you want to make/buy a blockoff plate for the EGR port on the manifold, wait untill you can buy the headers.

It doesn't have the EGR hole because its the 01/02 LS6 manifold.....I guess I'll wait to buy headers to intall both

EGR was cancelled in the later years, so it's not even on some cars, and they don't get busted. Do you really think the inspector is going to be an LS1 f-body expert?

Yeah but when they type in your VIN number their computer tells them what came OE on the car so a 98 vin will say it should have EGR while a 02 will say it didnt have one, Trust me it dont work, with the HUGE fines associated with letting things like that go unless the inspector is just plain stupid or really easy going dont expect to pass

That ******* blows.

In Texas, you can try to get it inspected, if you fail, you drive across the street and try again. Pretty soon you'll find a place that doesn't give a ****.

I used to take our company trucks and get them inspected alot. I always took them to the same place every time. The guy there passed one of our trucks with the biggest crack you've ever seen in the windshield, right in front of your eyes. By this time, he almost knew me on 1st name basis. I asked him why he passed it and he said...

"If the bossman isn't here, we don't give a damn."

I say "What does he drive?"

He says "A black Jeep"

I say "Thanks." , then walk out.

Sounds really familiar. I normally have the manger of the dealership say that it sounds "good".

Ok guys I just received the pacesetter LT headers. They're ceramic coated, but I got them used. I was wondering if I should install the headers in my car now. I still have my stop y pipe. What are your suggestions?

It won't work with the stock y-pipe (without a serious hackjob), I would wait.
