Default starter problem! help pleae

Hi my car is not starting. nothing is happening. no cranking, no clicking noise, nothing. does anyone have an idea of what it is? my guess either the starte or the ignition but what test can i run before i go and buy a new starter? please thanks for the help guys.

Need more info, did it suddenly start happening, any work done before problem surfaced? Is your other stuff coming on, lights radio, etc? Always start by checking your battery connections, must be clean & tight. Auto or M6? A4s have a neutral safety swtich than can go bad, M6s have a switch on clutch pedal. Check their connections 1st.

Try charging the battery, try a jump start.

all the accesories work and turn on. no recent mods. its a manual 6-speed. it just happened out of nowhere

Make sure nothing has happened to the ground wire on your starter. Make sure you ENGINE is making good ground.

Happened to me last year. Starter solenoid. Swap out the starter. Valvegod sells them for pretty cheap.

For the time being, see if you can tap the back of the starter with a hammer to get it to kick over. Carry that hammer around with you so you dont get stuck.
