Default Turning your own pulley

Thinking of making my own underdrive pulley on my new Myford lathe - has anyone done anything similar? Doesn't look like too complicated a project and these things are very accurate...

Since the pulley is also the dampener, you need some sort of viscous material between the inner hub and outer ring. And you need that viscous material not to come apart at 6 to 7K rpm.

Interesting... is this visible on the stock pulley? What kind of materials would be suitable?

Yes its visable on the stocker. Looks to be some sort of wrapped neoprene or silicone rubber.

Good luck, Harmonics and Vibration/Resonance is a painful process. Hope you don't break your crank perfecting it.

Hmmm... I'll be honest, didn't actually realise they were in two parts... probably won't bother in that case - I've got a lot to learn!!!
