Long Tubes and EGR?
I trying to decide whether to get LT's with or with out EGR and secondary air provisions. I know that secondary air shouldn't be a problem because it just dumps fresh air into the exhaust, but the EGR does concern me. I have a stock compression ratio motor, and I was just wondering If I will get pinging under load without EGR. I know it's supposed to reduce combustion temps. to reduce NOx emmssions. And with higher temps. you get more of a chance for pinging. I want to know what others have done about this.

To be honest I haven't looked around my exhaust manifolds that much, I saw the AIR lines, but now that I think about it I never did see the EGR system. I never really spent the time to find out for sure.

Don't forget the additional benefits of EGR like a nice thick coating of SOOT on you ENTIRE INTAKE SYSTEM! Isn't that special? Ford makes big bucks (about $1200.00 a pop) to clean the intake on their F150 trucks once the carbon buildup gets so bad the engine barely runs. If you don't bypass your EGR you'll need a wire wheel and muratic acid to get the SOOT off once your engine gets completely choked off by carbon. EGR is just a feel good measure instituted by the EPA.

EGR doesn't affect PEAK HP numbers as it doesn't operate at full thottle. The changes in HP would be due to the LS6 intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, and different cam profile
