Default Ok for tips to touch bumper cover?

Is it ok for the exhaust tips to touch the bottom of the rear bumper cover? I realized they get hot but it seems that if i space them at all and clamp down the system, it rattles against my floor pan. Its a dynomouth btw. I was worried it would melt the paint. It has been like that for a few days now and no problems but still curious.

Mine melted just driving across town. Now they are less than a 1/2 inch lower and no problems.
