Default Help picking and air cleaner

Hey i tried to put this in the best area i could so forgive me if its in the wrong forum. I ordered 3 different air cleaners 2 from k&n and 1 from edlebrock. I know some flow better than others and some look terribly ugly. How much difference can an air cleaner that has all sides open make opposed to one that has a chrom top and just sides to suck the air? Can i have some opinions on which looks the best under the hood while still having the best performance? here are some pics under the hood and of just the air cleaners.

in the car...

I like the first one (with the top k&N section).

But why in the hell are you posting all these threads on an LSx website? There have GOT to be tons more dealing with SBC's that could help you out tremendously!

FWIW don't use that triangular shaped POS, they absolutely suck, not only no flow, but they hold gas vapors, and one day the element will go up in flames (and you car will soon follow)
Happened to my room mates 71 vette, fortunately it only melted the hood, and not the whole car

yes that is very fortunate. i have heard the same thing about the edlebrock ones in a couple of places. im posting on here because the people on this forum have great general knowledge about engines PERIOD. i believe there is also a small block/big block section. but as stated above i did not know where to put it. i post on other forums as well.

im mixed, the one with the k&n isnt gonna help any IMO, but your motor seems more like a hardcore race look not a all chromed bling muscle car so i think the k&n top kinda goes with the xtreme performance hardcore look more than the by itself bling one, the triangle one is uguly i hate them ewww throw it away

use the top one. the triangle one looks like a bicycle seat and the second one, while nice looking, looks like it'll hold heat in while the top one will keep the air the coolest.

I'd say the top one would be best with the right hood.

No, he's saying that, since they both have the same round K&N filter element around the outside, the one with the EXTRA flow area (first pic) will be better for FLOW than the flat metal top piece.

I think you should stick with the K&N filter with the top filter element (first pic).

Those holes look fairly puny, and I wouldn't want some tubing running all over that nice looking engine bay.
