Default Intake setup

I have a 2000 WS6, and I've already ran full exhaust with jet hotted hooker super comp long tube headers, mandrel 3 inch exhaust into a flowmaster 80 series. I'm about to start on the intake side, and I was going to use the SLP flow pack with a granitelli MAF, and fast 78 mm throttle body and lsx intake. I've had mixed reviews about the MAF, and have benn told the lsx is overkill if i'm not going to go extreme with it. Any comments or suggestions???

Don't waste your time on the FAST or the MAF until you get into the cam/heads range. Even then, the MAF isn't a restriction. I wouldn't waste my time on a MAF until you were encrouching 500rwhp or you buy a FAST 90/90. Pick you up a used LS6 intake out of the for sale section, keep the stock MAF, buy the SLP lid/filter, and use the extra money to buy a magnaflow cat back and ditch the POS Flowmaster. You'd have a stout 12 sec ride then.

So what's up with the flowmaster??I've liked it so far. And how bout a throttle body?Should I just go with a ported LS6 piece or what? I'm also wondering if full ignition would be worth it and whether or not I should get rear contol arms, subframe connectors, and strut tower brace.

Lots of tests have been done with mufflers on this board. The flowmaster was always one of the lowest HP producers of the buch until you get down into the one chamber styles. Magnaflow has always been one of the best sounding, best HP producers on the market bar none. As for the throttle body, there's no diffrence between a LS1 or 6 TB. A ported TB can show better than 5 rwhp and they tend to be pretty cheap. As for ignition, don't waste your time. The LS1 ignition is pretty much top notch. Plus there isn't a whole lot you can do to it. Whne it comes to suspension, the parts you listed are pretty common upgrades. If your going in steps, get the subframes first, followed by the arms, then STB if you really want one. First things first, you need a LS-6 intake manifold, then you can do your other mods accordingly.

Yeah, i was planning on getting the SLP stuff, throttle body, and intake at once and taking care of all of the installation in a weekend or so..well ****, i may just have to go and swap my muffler out at some point, but the exhaust is all new from the block back, but i don't think that will be a problem

I know the LSX is overkill if i'm not planning on getting heads and a cam, but does that go for the 78mm version too?

Does the LS6 intake use the stock TB, which i will port, or would it be better to buy an aftermarket piece?

Stock throttle bodies (ported or not) will bolt up to an LS6. You can always get about $400 for an LS6/ported TB combo later on if you want to upgrade, those things sell faster than anything else on this board.

So, I suggest you stick with that untill you NEED the FAST.

That's probably going to be the option I am going to take. Everyone I've talked to hasn't really said much about an aluminum intake like BBK, or Holley, and the fast seems to be too much for what I'm looking for.

Read this

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/518237-how-much-power-ported-tbs-worth.html

Stick with the LS6 intake for now

For suspension, if you're really interested, check out the chassis/suspension forum on www.frrax.com

LS6 put down better numbers than the Fast 78.

I've developed a pretty good exhaust leak off of these Jet Hot headers, and the driver side is hitting the framerail, anyone else heard of problems with these?
