short belt ?????

Re: short belt ?????
If you have an LS1 car, you simply run the belt from the crank pullet to the alternator. Then you run it under the idler pulley and under the water pump so the back side of it catches the water pump. Push the rest of the slack up toward the tensioner and go up top and slack the tensioner and run the belt around it.
No problem what so ever.
note...you need to pull the power steering lines away from the belt with a safety-tie..this should be obvious.
Hope this helps

Re: short belt ?????
Some recommend a 52 inch belt, I like the 52.5 because its easier to put on and it puts the tensioner back in the same spot on my car. If you go the your local part store just ask for a 52-52.5 inch belt with 6 ribs. Your part number will be like 525R6 (inches/ribs) or 520V5 (inches/valleys). They'll know what you're talking about.

Re: short belt ?????
well I did it, with stock crank pulley, you need a 53.75" belt, you also need to grind the lower half of the lower alt. bolt head, I am to skeered to pull the bolt totally out, ,some have done it, ,but I am just to skeered(oh well), anyway, grind the bottom half off,so you can still have something to get a wrench on to remove it,and pull that tranny cooler line bracket off, and tie wrap the the lines back toward the rack and pinion, use the routing listed above and you are good, cars runs way better, will have a time slip tonight!!!!!!!! <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />
