Filter tray bridge cut out for more air....... why not?

Filter tray bridge cut out for more air....... why not? Just thought I would pass along a mod I did today. Take out your filter tray from your air box and you will see a 1-1/2 inch plastic bridge in the middle. This area could be used for more air coming inside the air box. Your air filter does not rest on this bridge (Holley Power Shot) and I went ahead and dremeled it out. The tray is still very sturdy without it.
Anybody else do this?
Another thought.... Those two holes on each side of the front grill in the bumper. There's black stirofoam in there and why couldn't you cut that out and make a duct to flow direclty to your CAI duct or to the airbox??

Here's a full write up on that cold air idea you had--looks like you're on the right track.
I though about that air bridge thing too, now that someone else has done it, I think I'll try it.

Front bumper support: For me I'd rather not mess with the front bumper support at all. Just due to safety concerns.
I did remove my front grille because I wanted it to be body color. Car feels less aerodynamic above 140, and the hood seems to flutter up and down a bit - possibly more high-pressure air getting in the engine bay.
