Question port and polish MAF?

Ok so I decided not to destroy my factory MAF sensor and have found a donor for pretty cheap. I was looking at the installuniversity site and they hacked apart the inside of the metal housing. I have an 01 Z/28 and don't remember if I even have that housing in there. I know someone is gonna say look. But my car is in the shop waiting on my ls7 clutch set up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They said it will cause the car to run leaner? And that is better? I am just planning on experimenting with the other one and putting my stock one back in if it sucks. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. If anyone ported and polished theirs that would be help.

unless you have the means and ability to tune for the MAF, keep it stock.

I could drill a 2" hole in my intake manifold, which would make the car run pretty lean, but would that be good?

Don't mess with the MAF. If you want to hack up another one go ahead, but your results may be less than stellar.

so you think hacking up the other would be a waste of time? Stellar it says in your signature you port your maf and throttle body. did you notice a diffrence. I def want to get my throttle body port and polished but want a donor to do this so I can go back to stock if I ever need too. Are all throttle bodys the same from year to year? Is a 99 the same as a 01? Like wise 98-02?

I would not tweak the MAF at all. The 98-99 throttle bodies have a smaller "cam", the part that the cable passes over and rotates when you press the gas pedal. You only need to remove the throttle body blade, remove the shaft, and swap it with yours to make it work.

I have a 02 z 28, I was thinking about porting and polishing it my self. Will that cause any problems? I have had people tell me it is a good way to make 10 hp. is it?

They came with the screens. Some one prob took it off before you got the car. My freind went to get his car inspected when they first bought it and did that for him. It was some local shop. They cut his egr thing that was in his manifold for him and did the t/b bypass.
