Question Question concerning airflow into manifold via TB and MAF..look

OK, i was driving today and I was thinking....isnt it kind of a waste to run a 90MM TB and a 90MM manny if your MAF is not 9mm, but in fact smaller (dunno the stock size)

Isnt it basically rendering the 90MM set up useless considering only so much air can enter through the smaller MAF???

please let me know this...or am i missing something
THANKS!

Stock is 75-78~ depending on porting. The point is opening a larger hole for more air. There is more landscape in the opening for more air to flow through.

yeah but what im saying is theorhetically is if you have only a 75mm MAF (letting 75mm of air through, i dunno the cfm's) going into a 90mm, isnt the 90 only getting 78mm worth of air by volume??? i know that you cant have mm of air, but you know what im saying
Thanks

It may have a bottlenecking affect on it yes. If that was what you were asking. But with the 90mm openings past that it allows for more air to fill that space than it would a 78 stock sized TB and manifold opening.

ok, cool, nevertheless though, aren't people seeing better gains with the 90 90 even WITH the stock MAF on?
Thanks a lot Orange, you always come through

You can always get an 85 mm truck maf. Also, multiple restrictions will be worse than a single one. Think about blowing through a full length drinking straw, then blowing through a 1/4" short piece of that same drinking straw.
