k&n filter question
quick question guys,
do i need that lining that comes with the filter... you know the one that goes on the lid?
well, i was asking because mine is coming off, well its 1/2 way on and off. Can I just take it off? Does it serve a purpose?
Thanks, Laters.

Re: k&n filter question
you are probably referring to the gasket that goes around the filter to give it a seal...but most people take that pos off and use some thin weatherstrip from a local hardware store.....just apply it around the edges of the lid and it will give you a tighter seal of the airbox which is very important......that is if you have an aftermarket high flow lid of course....and having a tight seal is crucial when having an aftermarket high flow lid.......so yes you do need it....pick up some weatherstrip from a Lowes or Homedepot and apply it...it will only set you back a couple of bucks!!.....but it will ensure you of a tight seal so no air will come out....FWIW.....I have heard of some people's original K&N gasket to come off and sometimes being sucked into the MAF....no problem if you have the screen in ...but if you don't... bad news bro......hope that helped and welcome to the board....check out the Texas forum...alot of H-town people over there!!
