So if 1 7/8" is overkill what will 2" do...
I needed some headers for my ChevyII/6.0L conversion.
After seeing how much clearance I had headers looked doubtful.
I then ran across some Hooker Super Comp Big Block Fender Exit Headers.
I believe I can make these work by changing the flange.
Great headers that will fit for under $500.
Problem is the big block super comps are 2" od with a 3 1/2" Collector.
My stock bottom end 6.0L when finished would be pushing probably 475fwhp at best.
Are these headers going to completely kill any hope of low end torque?
Setup:
03 Stock 6.0L Short Block
Patriot LS6 59cc Heads
LS6 intake
Cam (unknown) (probably something close to a TSP Torquer 2)

Only one way to find out... try it. I don't personally know of anyone that has put that big a primary on an gen3 or 4 engine, but that doesn'e mean it won't work, they may have not doen it because of clearance issues. I'd guess, taht if you were running a 400+ ci setup, that it would be fine, as that's what those headers are made for in the first place, old shcool big block. I'd try it before just x'ign off a header with that size primary because noone has tried it.
Friend of mine is runnign full 1 7/8 on a 383, what you're talking about isn't that much bigger, and you're displacment isn't that much different.

Well I plan to try it and if it doesn't work out I can always have some 1 3/4" headers custom made.
Just got the headers off ebay should be here next week.
Should look pretty crazy Gen 3 motor with old school fender exit headers.

Taking off the exhaust and running open headers on your avg. cam only car will shift the power band to the right and you get more power up top. That's why it feels slower, b.c. you're losing it on the low end.
