anyone remove tcs?
has anyone else removed their traction control system? will this get rid of it permanently or does computer programming need done?
just wondering if the car will still automatically have the tcs on after I removed:
removed rear end and installed 9" with no tcs parts, removed switch inside car, removed little motor thing with the throttle cable in it(the thing one the pass side fender) removed abs unit (installed billingsley block)
Looks like I will need a new throttle cable from a non tcs car...

Well, I dont know much about this, but I figure, if you take out the motor that holds the throttle back when your tires spin, then its impossible for that to happen. Know what I mean? I guess the computer will think its there but it wont be able to use it, maybe the low traction light will come on but it wont actually prevent slip. just my two cents, I dunno if you understand that post though, its early in the mornin.

There's a TCS "brain" under the dash,
left of the steering column. I bet
if you took that out, the light would
be off (and another 8oz of weight
reduction). Pg 5-118 of the Helm manuals.
Odd-looking pod with two connectors, right
up against the main firewall bulkhead
feedthrough bundle, from the looks of the
drawing.

Just out of curiousity, why would you want to remove tcs/asr? I don't see the point. The weight savings is negligible I'm sure and you can just flip the switch when you don't want it on. SLP even sells a plug-n-play reverse tcs/asr module.

Re: anyone remove tcs?
I will check out my helms manual.
gotta get the throttle cable.
unit,
removing it not only for weight loss, but my 9" rear didn't come with abs/or tcs. not worried about having tcs or abs crap.

Unit 213, it looks like he installed a 9" with no TCS sensor in it and needs to make it "go away". I am using the SLP module on mine (still stock rear) and it works great if you just don't want to use the ASR, but no sensor is a different problem....I'd think you will need to delete it from the ECM as well....but verify that first. Good luck!
