Default 2.5 y-pipe hp capabilities

i was wondering if anyone is running a 2.5 y-pipe and making alot of power or if anyone knows how much power 2.5 is good for? i have a catted 2.5 y-pipe and i'm starting to wonder if i'm going to be limited hp wise from the 2.5.

I would think 2.5" would be fine with the right cat-back. It wouldn't be best for upper RPM power though, if thats what you're going for.

well thats actually good to hear cause i guess that means the power will be where its most useable? would 2.5 be able to suport 500 hp? just curious

A DUAL 2.5" system would support 500hp.

Each square inch of cross sectional pipe area flows 115cfm. You need 2.2 cfm per HP before it becomes a restriction.

As long as the 2.5" pipes merge into a 3" pipe for the I-pipe, you should be fine. Your power will be most useable in these cars from 4000+, especially after you get a stall.
