Default Which exhaust system and why???

Hey guys,
I just got a 2002 SS Camaro and I was wondering the best way to do the exhaust. Someone told me that the SLP Loud mouth Cat-back system with the Borla muffler would be the best. Is this true? Please tell me why you picked the exhaust you did and describe the sound that it makes

Thanks alot

I had the LM, but then i sold it and went with the GMMG. The borla is the most common. It really depends on what you like. Look for sound clips that can give you and idea on the sound you want.
LM: kinda raw sounding, cheap, gives good gains.
Corsa: much more refined sound, $$$, a good sounding muffler
GMMG: my fav, good flow, chambered design, pricey
Hooker: a just a good system.
How about duals?

I like the sound of my LM <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> , that may change with headers.

I like my borla. It sounds and looks great, and the adjustability of the sound level is nice. (Wide open normally, but cap it up for a long trip) With cats it sounds really nice and refined and is quite loud. It can get a little obnoxious without cats though.

A buddy of mine has the corsa. I'm not real crazy about the tips, but it does sound good. They seem to have an issue with the design of their mufflers though. Guy in question had to have 4 replacements before he got one that didn't rattle after a week.

I have SLP's Loudmouth exhaust, dual/dual. I love the sound on it and I had it for some time now. I think the LM set-up is best used with stock cats and manifolds IMO. Anything other than that I heard is disaster <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> . Call me loco, but I don't think it's loud enough. I might be crazy, but who cares?

I wanna switch though, since my hooker headers are going on soon, I would like the whole hooker exhaust. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Would anyone like to trade their hooker catback w/ my LM? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

All power gains with cat backs are pretty close, and it all comes down to a matter of personal taste. Look at the sound clips in my sig, I dont have many, but its something.

I just got Borla cat-back installed and I think it sounds awesome, and the tips look great too. Email me for pics and a sound clip if you'd like. I dynoed 11 rwhp more with the system full open over the factory system.

I've got the LM, but the drone gets old. There are ways to fix that, though.

LM is also a lot cheaper than most of the others, last I checked.

I have the hooker and it sounds good and was cheap but there was some fitment/rattling issues that I have since resolved. I had the loudmouth and it really was to loud once I put on the headers. I keep hearing great things about the magnaflow like it flows as good as a cutout, If I could do it all over again I would get the magnaflow

GMMG
Why?
1. Excellent flow
2. Excellent sound - a bit louder than the average catback
3. On a Camaro - the muffler is visible from the rear - mufflers that are offset to one side (as most are) drive me nuts!, The GMMG looks great and is balanced.
4. Quality - been on the GMMG cars for years now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

here some exhaust flow numbers that i have picked up while on this board.

loudmouth/dynomouth 2200 cfm (same as 3" straight pipe and almost as loud)
magnaflow/dynomax ultraflow crossflow mufflers 1100 cfm
hooker/borla 900 cfm
edlebrock less than 700 cfm
flowmaster 80 series 350 cfm

i like my hooker cat-back. great sound good flow and when i do need a little extra flow i can drop the muffler and tailpipes in a few minutes for straight pipe/weight savings.

Go with the Borla!
IMO the sound, quality & overall performance is "hands down" one of the best systems on the market.
I put mine on my 2000 when i first got the car.
Now in 03 it looks just as it did when it went on.
My car is also a daily driver, as long as you take care of them they'll last 4ever.
Just my .02 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Went with the GMMG, wish it was a bit louder, but from what I hear from the loudmouth owners about drone etc, I'm glad I went with what I did. Look at how many LM owners have switched, corsa owners with rattles, etc., then look at how many compliants GMMG owners have posted. Not many, if ANY at all.

I like Hooker catback. At 300 bucks you can't beat it.
