Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers Part II
If anyone is wondering what i have been up to, here it is!
QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers. Made with high quailty 304 stainless steel. No more coatings. Going with quality metal instead of cheap steel. Please excuse the pics. I did them real quick.
<img src="http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/Headers/headerhvc1-med.jpg" alt=" - " />
Made some improvements beside the metal change. All the headers now have long turbulance spikes in the collectors for ultimate scavaging.
<img src="http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/Headers/Turbulance%20spike-small.jpg" alt=" - " />
And the big news.
High Velocity Merge Collectors. Nascar technology for our LS1s.
<img src="http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/Headers/Mergecollector-small.jpg" alt=" - " />
Why High Velocity Merge Collectors?
The construction of a merge collector is such that the change in area at the primary tube to collector transition point is minimized. This gradual transition allows the exhaust gas to maintain as much velocity as possible. Maintaining gas velocity is the key to allowing the exhaust system to reach its efficiency potential.
Merge collectors significantly improve the efficiency of the exhaust system. We recommend dyno testing to arrive at the final camshaft combination when using this style of collector. If you need that last little edge and are willing to do the testing required to realize the potential gains, merge collectors are one of the most economical ways to gain significant amounts of torque and horsepower in the entire engine combination.
One other news about the merge collectors, I am not charging $300 per collector like other header builders. This option is only $325 per set.
Since we are making these ourself the price is lower. Check the web site for pricing.
These are slowly going out to ones that already ordered them. Please be patient because it takes time to build these with quality. A GP will happen on these just not right now as requested. I will start one after i ship out all the headers i have on order. I do not want to extend my self and have something lacking. The cat ypipe is also coming out soon. Just did not have a chance to get the cats flowed yet. Waiting on some cats from carsound to add to the cat shootout. Will post that when done.

Looks sweet, if I was to get headers I would only look at stainless, so glad to see you working with that.

Beautiful Barry <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> When are you thinking about having a GP?

2) What is the grade of steel used in the other brand of stainless steel headers?
Thanks

How about this "Introducing QTP Catted Y-Pipe for Long Tube Headers". Now that would sound good. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Awesome Barry! Any chance of a dyno comparison between the straight and merge collector?

Then of course we will request the same with different cat-backs... I will report dyno numbers w/ Barrys headers with his Y, no cat and a stock tail and muffler on April 3rd. I will hopefully also be posting dyno numbers with the cut-out in use to see if there is a gain. The car however will be tuned with the cut-out in the closed position so it may not give a true read of what is obtainable.

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers Part II
When I get mine - I'll post up some numbers, should be within the next 2 weeks hopefully. I am getting the dual cutout ypipe, and the merge collectors. My cam probably isn't optimal for the merge collectors, but we'll soon find out. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers Part II
Its 304 L Stainless Steel. The higher quality one.
Cat Ypipe will be done when i get a chance to breathe Building QTECs as fast as i can <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
WIll have a dyno comparo on my car. I already have the standard collector on there. Wont be for a little bit.
Only slip fit. No flanges. Would make the price of the cost go up about $40. Stainless steel flanges are not cheap.

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers Part II
John, I have his Y here....anyone can have cats installed into them via any muffler shop. Its a cut and paste thing. Not all cats will work but certainly when you place the newer randoms and some carsounds there is enough room. This will be easy if your shootin for a perminent install.
I think Barry has them fabricated by a specialty shop or shops..and not likely to answer where so it doesnt end up in the same situation that happened before with other vendors (and sponcers) going to his peeps. i know I'd keep it under my hat. Look, I've been a huge QTP fan due to service and quality....in a day or two I'll let ya know how easily they do or dont install, then on 4/3 i'll post the dyno...(non - merg collector, non-emmission, stainless).

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers Part II
Hopefully I will get my headers and ORP with dual cutouts soon. I ordered them about a month or more ago. Now don't get me wrong, Barry is a great guy with outstanding service. He has been nothing but helpful and polite with me the whole time. I just think that maybe I got forgotten about with the bad weather he had and the new shop, not to mention his new baby to keep him busy. But as soon as I get them and get some numbers I will post them for everyone.

Re: Introducing QTP Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers Part II
I hear that. I ordered mine a while ago to, and actually sold the other headers I was going to put on. Not knocking Barry/QTP by an means, I just wasn't aware of the time frame it was going to take. Especially since my cam went in last saturday so my car is choking right now. But since I was waiting anyway, I decided to go full blown and get the merge and dual cutout y. I'm looking for some nice numbers when I get this whole package put together. I guess time is just the price you pay for a quality product.
