Chambered muffler in place of LM resonator, anyone have a dyno or time slip??
My LM resonator has been replaced by a Dynomax bullet. No loss in hp, obviously. I want to eliminate the drone and throw in a chambered muffler in its place.
Anyone have a dyno with a chambered muffler in their I-pipe? Possibly a before and after??
I was thinking I wouldn't lose anything cause the GMMG uses chambered mufflers...but now I'm reconsidering 'cause it actually uses TWO of them...not forcing all the air through one.
Any experiences out there with this set-up????

Well I have a stock ´00 Z w/LM and like it except for the drone just below 2000 rpm. I have been thinking of getting two of those Sweet Thunder chambered mufflers and adding them just before the tips i.e. if you can get them short enough to fit. Anyone done this?

Unless you know of one that I don't, the biggest Chambered Mufflers out there still have a 2.5" inner diameter. I know the Sweet Thunders and the ones that GMMG use are like this too.
So, unless a new company has come out with a 3" or larger INNER diameter, I wouldnt do it, because you would be restricting all your exhaust gases into a 2.5" tube. The reason the GMMG can get away with it, is because like you said, theres two of them.
I have a Loudmouth and put in a Dynomax bullet muffler. Although it didnt quiet down the exhaust volume, it did help get rid of some of the rasp and popping.

Any idea if I could swap out most of my tailpipes for short chambered mufflers?????
Just a thought.

It's deeper and not near as loud and annoying. No drone on the highway either. It's still a little raspy at 2300rpm, but not even close to what it was before.

Thanks, Nick. I'm seriously considering the mini-type muffler behind the tips. Glad to hear it worked for someone.
Here's a 30 second vid of my car and the sound it makes. I'm the silver F-bod

"The sound" I'm referring to is a big part of why I'm wanting something different. There's a whistle at WOT.
