uhh that's basically my setup.... shorties into a y, into a LM resonator, then dumped
in a month I'll be runnin' lt's into TD X pipe, and then each pipe into a LM resonator, then dumped

A good Y pipe will scavenge in much the same way as an X pipe.

They go headers, Y pipe, muffler then over the axle and generally split into two outlets. But the extra tubing over the axle will not have any great affect on the performance of the exhaust.
Personally I would either run it out the back (you could even keep it as a single pipe if you wanted). But if you want to dump before the axle I would just swap the Y for a X pipe and have two smaller mufflers, one per bank.
It's not that dual will offer any more power on a bolt on/cammed LS1 but if you go FI it will outflow a 3" Y pipe. Also duals sound arguably better than Y setups.

yeah one of my friends had the setup on his camaro but he had a 408 It sounded badass. The only thing he did was he had a 4 inch pipe coming straight from the bullet right to the rear end and wasn't dumped. It was loud as hell sounded like a race car on the street. but i am sure it was because of the 408 he had.
I say try it out man i always wanted to do the same but i use my car to drive to work

i have a 3" y, then 3.5" pipe going into a bullet, then a single 3.5" pipe out the back. i put the bullet in the same area where the stock muffler was. it is extremely loud.
