Default Need a quiet muffler!

Sorry if this isn't a LS1 but my 496 in my K5 Blazer is WAY too loud. Last year I took Summits advice and installed some Flowmaster 70 series mufflers:

http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/we...PerfMuff8.html

These were suppose to be the "quiet" mufflers but they are far from that. The Chevelle 502 in the sound clip of the link above sounds half as loud as my K5! I can't carry on a conversation inside or even talk on my cell when I'm going down the road. If I just idle next to a car, the bass from the exhaust will set off most alarms. Last year going to Moab, my ears wouldn't stop ringing when I got there. It's really bad. It's basically a bored and stroked 454 with cam, heads, MPFI, headers, no cats, dual 3" exhaust with a crossover.

Any other ideas for a quiet muffler that still flows well?

I would recommend the Hooker Aerochamber series of mufflers. They are quiet and flow really well, very little power loss through the muffler.

you could try converting to an x-pipe with magnaflow mufflers. This setup would flow really well, yet still be quiet enough for long trips, in my opinion.

I've got a Dynomax Welded Ultra Flow and it's VERY quiet. Almost too quiet, but it helps with the higher stall TC.

I might try the hookers. I have a Magnaflow on my TA and love the sound with the cats. I also heard it on cat-less TA and it's too raspy at the upper RPM's. I use to have Ultra-Flos before the Flowmasters. It was even louder.

I also found out that I don't have 70 series but the 50 series Delta Flows. I was stupid for not looking at the part # when I got them. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> Its been a year so I doubt I can return them. Maybe I'll try the 70's.
