Default Which bolts to use for header install?

What bolts are you all using for your header installs?
Can we resuse the stockers or is there something better?

Thanks

idk about the ls1 because i still got stock manifolds on mine .. but my 355 powered 1st gen small block loved allen head circle cap screws, they stayed tight, were easy to get to and looked good stainless steel, but i also have a tap and die set so i can find thread sizes easy, and just go buy the apropriate bolt. i got arp head bolds on my heads for the third gen. probly the best bolts you can get, except they rust if exposed my head bolds on the outside started to rust alil, still wouldnt get any other bolts for heads or engine internals though.

You forgot to mention the fact that those little bastards are 11mm, which is a pretty hard gear wrench to find.

Stockers with anti-sieze is what I use.

I just reused mine the other day. Estimated as well with tightening them up...never had any problems doing that.

easy to find around here. Oreilley's has a ton of em.

I also use the Stage 8 locking header bolts WITHOUT the stupid little locking tabs. The bolts are nice, but the locking tabs are a pain in the *** and completely unneccesary for LS1 motors as the header bolts do not back out on these cars. I also use antiseize on mine.

Thats what I used. I got a Husky 11mm gear wrench at Home Depot. Also used anti-sieze and no locking tabs. Everything has stayed tight so far.

The locking tabs on the stage 8 bolts are a pain in the ***, you are better off not using them.

I see that the stage 8 bolt kit has 3 parts...bolt washer and clip....can we use bolt and washer and leave out the clip then?

you would just use the bolts. The washers go over the bolt after they've been tightened down, and then the clips lock the washers in from falling off.
