When I did my heads, I upped the compression to 11.1:1. I had already had some knock problems in the summer (AZ) so I went ahead and converted to one step cooler plugs just to be safe.

It got rid of just about all my knock (still get 1 or 2 degrees retard now and then). The only down side I can see is that when the engine is cold, I HAVE to heat it up. Untill it reaches opperating temp (160 degrees), it has a hard time keeping its self running when I hit the brakes. Its not that big of a problem thought because I always like to heat it up anyways.
