Default Muffler vs Catback

What would be an estimated gain with replacing just my stock muffler vs doing the whole cat back? I have stock headers.

That question needs more clarification details. Depends on brands, budget, etc. But all said and done, I'd say it would be minimal difference either way.

depends on which muffler you plan on replacing the stock one with. the flowmaster 80 series muffler makes about 8 rwhp over the stock muffler. the flowmaster cat-back makes about 10 rwhp over stock. but i wouldn't get either of the above the flowmaster doesn't flow enough to make power on a modified car on a stock car you might not lose much with it but on a modified car you will.

if you want a good sounding and good flowing exhaust look into the hooker cat-back i highly recommend it. another good one is magnaflow.

if the piping is bigger than stock, you will also make more power.

Go magnaflow, and on a ws6 you should have 3" pipes already ( I did). magnaflow is highest flow you can get. I got mine for $114 shipped and LOVE it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

A Maganaflow for $114... You had to get that used? I'd like to pick one up, but the best price I can find is around $360.

I ran a Magnaflow muffler on stock exhaust pipes for about a year. I spent less than $100, installed. I had a cut-out added later, and hated the sound of that.

I then took it all off when the ATI was put on and replaced it with a Hooker cat-back. I love that cat-back!! It's one of the few times where the cheapest was also the best for me.
