Default Loud Water pump ticking sound, I think...

OK so here's a litle bit of what ive done in the last few days, changed cam, springs, oil pump, and PR's and them put it all back together again. Engine noise is noticeably louder as expected except for one loud Ticking sound. It is very loud, and it goes up and down with the RPM.

The sound appears to be comming from my water pump. I came to this conclusion by listening to the car idle with a hose in my ear and the other end all over the engine. I also pulled off the belt and the noise stopped. Then the next morning I put the belt back on and the noise was gone. Or so I thought. Drove the car around the block and get it back into my garage to pull the PCM to send to TSP and the noise is back again.

I wish I could have taken a video/sound clip, but I had to go to work and ship my PCM on the way. Now im hoping someone here can help me diagnose this problem some more.

Thanks

BTW I also have a thread on the Internal Engine section:

Pulley. Check the idler, since you probably took it off for the cam swap.

Checked the idler pulley and it made no noise by spinning it by hand as fast as i could, or any other pulley's. Is it normal that the power steering makes a clunk when I turn it by hand quickly? Im pretty sure though its the engaing of the clutch for the pump.

to really isolate the noise take a long screw driver and put it on the item in question and place the handle against your ear. move from water pump to idler and see which is louder.

power steering pumps don't have a clutch

So it doesn't have a centrifugal clutch or anything to engage it? Think someone could possibly pull their belt off and spin their power steering pump by hand and see if they get a clunk?

I meant check to make sure the bolt is tight on the idler.
