Default PO420 help por favor!

hey guys this was the code I got for my car I ran it down to the autozone and had it scanned. It said somthing about surpassing the flow of the catalyst section 1. DOes that mean I just have a bad 02 sensor? I am gonna buy long tube headers and an off road y-pipe. Should I worry about the code? I know you need 02 sensor simulators when you install longtubes. CAn't you just get the signal deleted? Does it hurt anything to get the code deleted permanatly?

Thanks in Advance!!!
Steve

Sounds like another driver's side cat has bit the dust. Could be the rear 02 but wouldn't bother since you're going with LTs and deleting cats anyway. If you decide to put off LTs for a while stock cats are covered under the federal emissions warranty for 80K.

Wierd but true story... I got the 0420 code more often than I got laid during the first year of owning our WS6... and I'm a very satisfied husband. Anywho, I tried swapping the rear O2s and resetting the PCM to see if it was a bad cat or just a bad O2... no change. Now, I know there was a reason behind it, but it slips my feeble mind at the time as to why I bought a new set of FRONT O2s... oh yeah, the car needed them anyways, having 140,000 miles and such on the factory ones. Ever since the swap, no 0420, no codes, no nothin... still a very satisfied husband.

hey guys as always thanks for such a quick response. Yeah i guess the cat bit the dust. lol. I couldn't imagine putting another one on there! I am sure the longtubes will def clear up that issue. I bet there is a hole in the ozone layer directly above my house from my old 80 Camaro. Take that mother nature!
