Default 98/99 TB on a 2002?

Any issues with running a 98/99 TB on a 2002 LS1 temporarily?

I borrowed a friend's spare TB to send off to Bauer for my core, but after comparing the two, I realized it is a 98/99 TB. I guess I'd like to run it on my car for a couple of weeks while I send my TB off to get ported.

I know the earlier TB has a different throttle cam/lobe - but that's the only difference, right?

Thanks in advance,
Shane

yeah....thats the only difference. The older TBs have a smaller diameter lobe than the newer ones. I have a BBK 80mm that I got off of a 98 car. Only mod I had to do was shoten (tighten up) the throttle cable. If you don't shoten it you won't get to 100% throttle (duhhhh.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> ).

Minor differences in the coolant and the PCV
breather lines too, nothing major aside from
the throttle cam. The casting numbers are all
the same, you can (I did) just swap the shaft
and PCV breather into an early core after
porting the bare casting (much easier to work
with that way). The coolant lines are in too
tight to remove, so just hack 'em off and do the
bypass.

I think you are thinking of the truck TB's. The truck TB's have a different coolant setup and PCV. All F-body TB's have the same setup in those areas reguardless of year. The only differences in years (98-99) & (2000-2002) is the throttle cam and the spring. BTW a blue spring is the 2000-2002, a brown is (98-99) and a orange is a truck unit.

Just correcting you on this since I see them all the time.
