Default 6.0 intake on ls1

i was wondering what to expect as far as power..im not trying to gain any, just dont want to loose a whole bunch. Ive heard they flow better till 5k which is exactly what i want. Going to put a stock ls1 out of a 02 camaro in my 88 4x. How exactly will the intake work with the stock ls1 cam and heads? Also, it will have the stock tb and injectors from the 6.0. sorry i just kind of jumped into this project with not alot of research, so im trying to make up for lost time.

6.0 intake? i take it you mean the intake off of an LS2?

you'll see gains, just not much. the LS6 intake is far superior. makes you wonder why they didn't put the LS6 intake on LS2's.

Is it a LS2 intakeor one from a truck?

If a truck then it'd likely be a backwards step. They are designed for lower end torque than high rpm HP so it's nt really the best option for a Fbody.

LS2 intake in theory should be better than LS1. However better gains have generally be seen with the LS6 intake on stock cubed motors.

yes 6.0 from a truck, its going, in a truck. Thats why i went with it. i was just wondering how it would do with the 5.7 heads and cam..didnt want to loose a bunch of power..im taking a 5.7 ls1 engine, and putting it in a pickup with the 6.0 accessories/intake etc..

stick with the ls1 intake or switch to an LS6. There is no reason to put a truck manifold on a non-truck engine, just because it's going into a pickup.

well, the main reason is that you cant use the ls1/6 mani with the truck accessory drive system, and you cant use the ls1/6 style accessories on the truck because of the alternator mounting location hitting the steering box. As far as using the ls1/6 mani with the vette accessories with the alternator up high, it would work, but i cant seem to find any vette accessories for sale and i have access to a complete truck accessory set with the manifold.

Might want to try performancetrucks.net, I'm sure some of those guys have swapped to the LS6/FAST intake, you can see how much they lost. 99% of the people on here drive f-bodies/vette's and the truck intakes wouldn't even fit.

I would think that there would be 0 gain. it is basically LS1-LS1 swap. Get an LS6 or a FAST if money is not an issue.

The truck intakes have been tested head to head with the ls1, ls6, and fast intakes. I don't have the magazines in front of me, but from what I recall, you lose nothing over the ls1, until over 5k rpm you lose nothing over the ls6, and the fast had to spin almost as high as the ls6 to outflow the truck intakes. If you are using the truck accessories, there is no reason not to use it.

Yep, I remember the truck intake was making more torque than them in one head to head test (believe it was in GMHTP). Nothing wrong with using the big ugly.
