Default FLP's banging, on passenger side!

I've read a lot of the FLP y-pipe banging issues. However, all things considered, these headers seemed to be the best for me. I love the headers, they look great and fitment was great, however.....

The y-pipe bangs. Not all the time, but over some bumps (varies in severity) and when flooring it. I was under the car tonight switching from cats to orp's and checking out the driver side, I had plenty of clearance. When I was under the passenger side though, I noticed that where the passenger collector and cat/orp meet at the v-clamp, there isn't much room. I could even see the rub marks on the bottom of the heat shield.

Will a poly tranny mount fix this? There's almost no room, so I'm thinking I might need more then that. Can the heat shield be moved or "adjusted"? If so, how?

Also, I noticed my driver side o2 wire was touching the header slightly. I covered it with a rubber hose and zipties, but I'd rather ziptie it away from the header completely. Anyone know where I can ziptie it too?

Other then those minor things, I'm really happy with my FLP's so far <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> .

What I did to secure the passenger side O2 wire was to drill a hole in the black plastic starter cover. Then loosely zip tied the O2 wire so it would be held away from the header.
As far as the heat shield is concerned, I was able to push on it hard with a piece of wood (hammer handle) and that gave me more clearance.
When I installed the Y-Pipe, I left all the clamps loose, then kept re-adjusting all the pieces until I got the right fit.
Hope this helps.

You could try a 1LE trans mount or the Energy Suspension poly mount, but the ES unit will transfer more vibration and possible cause some false knock. I have had both and in my opinion the ES unit was fine but the 1LE is a fine piece. I now have the 1LE mount. You could always try the hose mod if all else fails.

I did buy a 1LE mount and installed it before the headers (although I'm not convinced it's a 1LE). My friend got an ES mount and his car has no more vibration/noise then mine, so I think I'll try that and see how it goes. Probably also try "Massaging" the heat shield. Is there anything under the passenger side heat shield that I should be careful about when I bend it?
