Kooks, or QTP's?
i like the QTP's
but i was reading and a few people have decided to go with kooks instead.. even going as far as to cancel an order for qtp's in order to buy kooks instead.
are kooks really the better headers? or are the QTP's?
i know for a 427 yea a 1 7/8" stepped to 2" is going to be better..
but as far as 1 3/4" headers go for stock cube motors, will QTP's be just as good if not better than kooks? i am talking about regular collectors, not the 300 dollar collectors.

You can't go wrong with either as far as the performance and quality. It just depends on how long you want to wait for the QTPs. I ordered the Kooks and I will have them in about 2 weeks.

Re: Kooks, or QTP's?
Just like CamM said - you really can't go wrong with either company for quality or performance. Kooks offers greater variety - not only in primary sizes, but also you can go with regular mild steele, mild steele coated, stainless, etc.
The main concern would be the wait time. I was one that had the QTP headers on order and waited for over 2 months, and there was no end in sight. So I went to Kooks and they will have my headers to me in about a week - 2 weeks total!! You can't beat that kind of service.
I had QTP stainless 1 3/4 primaries with the merge collectors and dual cutout ypipe on order, but went with Kooks 1 3/4 - neither had emisions or cats.
Give Kooks a call - you won't regret the decision.

I ordered some Kooks today because QTP was taking the short side of forever. Great service and the headers will be here in a couple of weeks.

I talk to Barry a lot, and I know that he made a couple of revisions to the headers to make sure they fit better and were easier to install... I know he test fit header over an over on the mule car to get the best overall design... I think you will be happy.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the QTPs. They are a great header, but if you don't want to wait for months - go with something else.
My headers are shipping on Wednesday this week (I ordered Monday afternoon last week). That is pretty astounding for a header that is made to order - especially after waiting for 8+ weeks for word that the QTPs were even close to being done.

From the pictures, Kooks is using the exact same primary tube lengths and angles. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Kooks, or QTP's?
Fenris, Our headers may look similar to Grotts but are not the same. Although there's more than 1 style of headers for LS1's, I feel our design is second to none. The fact that they may look similar to Grotts is purely coincidental. The Grotts happen to to be a fine design as well. Our headers were custom built on a 99 LS1 and then prototyped on a jig. Those who already own them will testify to their performance potential as well as their fit and finish. Merge collectors are an option and are only recommended for all out race vehicles searching for very last ounce of power. Merge collectors do not work on all applications. Blower cars, for the most part, have no use for them. At best, maximum HP gains we've seen is 11hp. Average gains are 3 to 6. All and all there's a lot to be said about scavenger spiked collectors. They make great power without the extra expense. Nick "Kook's Headers"

Re: Kooks, or QTP's?
I can testify for KOOKS headers. They are top notch in quality and performance. I have had them since November and gained 3tenths and 2+ mph from them WITHOUT tunning. They are a pleasure to deal with and can be made for your specific application. Can't go wrong with them IMO
