Is this bad on the motor?
I was wondering if I took my exhaust off right behind the cat if it's bad for the motor. I just want to see what it sounds like and maybe drive it around for a couple of days. Any help appreciated and sorry for such a dumb question.

i'm with those guys.....i drove around a few times with my exhaust unhooked right behing the cat/manifolds and believe me it sounds like crap. Of course you will think it sounds bad *** at first just b/c it is loud as hell. But it will get annoying quick.
But to answer your question......no......it won't hurt your motor.

Nope, won't hurt your motor at all, just sounds real raspy and irritating. Just driving from the house to the muffler shop to get my y pipe fixed (welded to the I) it irritated the hell out of me. Sounds excellent on a drag car, but every day use, rather irritating. =)

Yea I agree. It did sound pretty good at first but I can see how you could get irritated. I have 2OTL exhaust with a y-pipe and mine really isn't raspy without the exhaust but I'm still going to put it back on. I think it does sound pretty good at WOT though. Also will this make my car quicker or slower because of compression maybe?

it won't change your compression. that happens inside the motor. heads/piston swaps change your compression. it will, however, virtually eliminate backpressure. you'll likely feel a loss of low end torque, but overall it'll likely be a faster car. SOTP will likely say you lost power since torque feels less noticable.
