FAST 78 MM intake ADVICE Needed
I am considering getting a FAST 78mm intake for my car. I know that it is not a very popular choice around here, but I'm not sure why??? From my research a FAST 90/90 set-up loses a substantial amount of low end to gain some top end and I would prefer better power under the curve than just a higher peak horsepower number as my car is 99.9% street driven.
Right now my car is Bolt on only, but my future plans are a set of affordable heads (cnc ported ls6) and a cam in the 228 range with a shot of happy juice. I'm also not sure if I would be shooting myself in the foot for if I ever did a stroker by running the smaller fast intake.
Would I be better off just getting my ls6 intake ported? or should I just run a shot of nitrous until I have the money to run a forged motor with cam & heads?

If you have an LS6 intake already, you'd gain about 1.5rwhp. The only reason to get a 78 is if you can find one for the same price as an LS6. When you get heads and cam, the 90/90 will shine for you. You can always sell an LS6 and put that money towards a 90/90 combo.

I agree, if you plan on getting aftermarket h/c you should go with the 90/90 setup. If your worried about your low end power you should update your gears as well. A set of gm 373's will work well with a a4, but you will lose some gas mileage.

I'm getting ready to upgrade from a stock LS6 intake to a fully ported FAST 90 with a Nick Williams 90mm throttle body. I'm a strickly SI car also so if you can wait until I get some dyno numbers you should be able to better determine what to do on your car. I called Jeff Creech today and he agreed to dyno my car with the LS6, install the FAST 90 and then re-tune the car for the new intake all in the same day in the interest of good science. I just need to get the intake ported by Tony Mamo before installing it so whatever time he needs to port the intake and get it back to me is my time element. Best of all, in the interest of furthering everyone's knowledge of how far a SI engine can go, he's agreed to do this at no charge to me. Jeff's the man. Seriously and no BS. I'm probably looking at around 30 days on this.

I'm buying all the components from different people here on LS1Tech. George Passantino from Michigan (ChevyThunder17 on the board) is going to build and install it for me this Fall. I'm going to have around 7500 or so in it when all is said and done. It's not going to be a street motor, instead it's going to be "Nasty" as in race only.
