Default Help to convince a friend not to pay for a lid/cold air intake install!

A friend of mine has a SLP lid and Austin Cold air (SSRA 2)that he wants to put on his 2002 Z28. I know he can do it himself but he doesn't want to work on his car. I told him i would install it or one of our other friends that has a LS1 would do install together. It took me 25 min taking my time to install my lid on my 01 SS taking my time and I just installed my Whisper Cold air intake the other day and that took me about a hour taking my time. So help me out here and let him know how easy these bolt on are to do!! Thnx!

Putting the lid on is a 15 min job including the slp smooth bellow and trimming it slightly to make it fit right... the ram air setup is probably another 15 min tops.

If he pays someone to do that, they will most likly charge him an hour, maybe even 2 if they are a crook.... that's a bad idea. I personally feel that all parts should be attempted to be installed by teh car owner, with the exception of motor internal parts.. stuff like that if you don't know what you're doing can end up a costly mistake and they are generally a much more sensative thing to work with. Bolt on's are that... a bolt on, the average guy that can change the sparkplug in his lawnmower can probably handle it, as long as they read the directions first at least once.

If he can't do that, he needs to sell it and get something else.

Seriously, to put it in perspective for him, ask him if he can change his own air filter? If he says yes kick him in the nuts and tell him he can install a lid himself.

If he says no kick him in the nuts and tell him to sell his car.

Tell him you just want to go take a look at it while he's doin somethin that'll take a lil bit of time. Then by the time he gets out to see where you went, you'll be half way through the install and he will understand why he should'nt have paid for it.

Use a hair dryer for the MAF, and soap for the IAT sensor and you can install it in 10-15 minutes; it did wonders for me. Just get your friend drunk and sit him infront of some video games; then, install it yourself while he is "busy."

Yo, Carlton, you forgot the grand plan. I'm waiting for a dyno day at TTP when three runs with air fuel monitoring will be $55. The first $55 set of dynos will be made with the car as is--with only the ported throttle body as a horsepower mod. The next $55 set of dynos will be made with the the lid and SSRA2 installed. I'll try to get this next set of dynos done right after the first set and after the lid and SSRA2 are installed on the spot. This means that both mods will have to be installed in less than half an hour and installed without newbie errors. I don't think I can install both mods within that timeframe and do it right the first time. I'm a newb.

The first thing you should do is show him this thread. Then hopefully he'll realize how much of a lazy bastard he's being. What kind of a ***** won't even attempt to install a lid by themselves?

I'd just like to reiterate the fact that if he can't even try to do it, he shouldn't own the car, much less be buying performance parts for it. That's just ridiculous.

Does he need help changing his own diaper too?

if he cant change a lid (the absolute easiest bolt on) himself he needs a brain transplant, the bicylce would be too complicated of a device.
