Default Just installed the Pacsetters and Y-pipe and i have Vibration...

Ok, the LT's and Y-pipe are on, the Y-pipe was hitting the body and rattling so i took it to a muffler shop where they cut it, pulled it down a little and welded it back and weldid a little spring between the pipe and the body on the drivers side, its no longer touching but now i have this vibration, it was also there when the pipe was hitting the body, it comes and goes, more often than not. it did it before the LT's to, But much less and much less often. The engine has low miles and runs perfect so it can't be that so whats the deal? Could it be the tranny mount (A4)? the spring? Do i need to retorgue the exhuast bolts?

What y-pipe do you have? I have the ts&p catted y and pacesetters...I have a vibration too, and I don't believe it's comming from the y...I checked the header bolts...all good, but still the vibration...

I just put on my Borla cat back a few weeks back and I'm having similar vibration problems. No headers on the car yet though. Its a rattle in low low rpms(1,000 and lower). Had a mechanic look at it and he couldn't find a problem either. Post up if you find a solution and I'll do the same.

Sure, and its the pacesetter Y-pipe with stock pipes and a QTP E-cutout, still vibration with it open or closed

I had the same kind of vibration when i put on my ory. it would only happen though when i would do a mild to hard launch, drove me crazy. The spring the muffler shop put on yours is transfering the vibration constantly. I put a piece of radiator hose around the pipe where it was making contact, problem went away. now when i launch hard i can feel it vibrate but its nothing like it was.

That happens to me as well, BUT only when the car is cold. Once everything heats up, its good to go. Not too worried about it though. Good luck.!!

mine's the same way with the mild to hard launch...and I'll agree w/ RippinZ11, this really spoils it for me after spending the money and thinking things are going to be good...and then when I roll out, all I hear and feel is vibrations!!!

I had a muffler shop look at it, and I've looked at it and I cant find what the problem is...my guess is that when the torque arm flexes, the pipes come in contact with it and the vibrations are transferred to the chassis...

I would definitly try to find where the exhaust could come in contact with the bottom of the car, mine was directly under the driver side seat. just put a piece of radiator hose with band clamps on it, no more rattles.

I'm gunna throw in a new tranny mount and cut that spring off to see if that helps.

so yea im either gonna wrap the **** out of it, or wedge some hose under there so it stops hitting the body. i havent got it on a lift yet but i would imagine the space is too small for a radiator hose, no?

I had a vibration but I got rid of it, it might/might not be what you guys have. I have pacesetter l/t and ory. I had a vibration from the metal shield part that sits over the pipes and touches the underside of the car. It was lose and vibrating like hell. If it is a rattle I would check that out............

Is that hose heat-resistant?! It's like 300-600'c degrees down there? (Exhaustgases are 900'c but the pipe cools it down..)

I found my problem this weekend...with all the clutch chatter, and I guess the motor mounts are bad, the headers are hitting the k-member on the sides...even though I thought there was plenty of clearance there...

I don't know what I'm going to do...I have no time to fix this, and it's going to rip a hole in my headers after a while. Damn pos ram clutch!! I bought some hose just now...hopefully that'll put a band-aid on the situation (whenever I can get to it within the next month)... anyone had this problem?
