Unhappy i need help changing water pump and thermostat

im changing the watr pump on my bird i bought a fail safe thermostat 195 degrees, should i go with a lower one anywhere in between 160 or 180. The fail safe comes only in 195 but if ur termostat brakes is stays open not like others that stays close. Im very confused any your guys expertise advise would be appreciated, also any advice on the water pump. thank you.

I would go with the fail safe unless you can reprogram your fans for the low temp thermostats. As far as the water pump i did mine 3 months ago and it was nothing. Just drain the coolant, and take off the airbox, throttle body, and belt. after that its a cake walk. a few 10mm bolts ( i think 6) and it should fall right off. Just make sure to use the new gaskets and fill the coolant completely. It took me about 2 hours total. Good luck

Changing the water pump is easy . Might want to think about doing a cam swap while you got that off . You will need two water pump gaskets since some year models came with paper .
As far as the thermo , the popular choice is the 160 but I live in the south . I notice you are up in CT so the 180 may be a good choice . Just remmeber if you go with a lower temp be sure to reprogram your fans to come on that way you can take full advantage of the mod .
