Question Do Fuel Rail Covers lead to increased Underhood temps ?

I'm not sure if my observation is infact true or simply psychological, but I've noticed that since the FRCs went on, the car heats up quite quickly.. esp. with the AC on.. Crosses the 3/4th mark [240* I assume] in not much time unless I'm driving @ 45+ mph..

If I pop the hood the temps come down, obviously... The tranny temps are around 160-170* .. so the Trans-cooler is doing it's job alright..

I'm wondering if anybody else has experienced the same or just overheating with the AC on in general these days...

Pls post...

I never noticed a difference when I had mine on. I recently took them off my car and it seems to operate at the same temperatures as before.

I'd say it's a possibility. I've even heard of a few local guys having problems with fuel boiling in the rails during summertime with the FRCs installed.

I removed and sold mine.

that's scary...

I'm gonna be removing mine today... errr tonight.. too hot outside right now lol..

I can't believe how hot the car gets with the AC on these days...Plus, the AC stops blowing AC like COLD Air once temps go North of 240* .. It sucks not to be able to enjoy this car during daytime anymore... esp. with the lady complaining [ and I can't blame her either.. ] ..

I have my fuel rail covers on and they are painted also. I have not noticed any temp. increases on my car,and im in Texas where it is always hot,but to be on the safe side I installed a 160 degree thermostat.

that's a nice paint job!!

I also have a 160* T-Stat and the fans are also set to turn on at 172* [fan 1 ] and 180* [fan 2 ] IIRC.. But, doesn't seem to help much right now..

Thanks and i would partly agree with these other guys if there is any heat issue it is not noticable IMO its not enough of a reason to pull them off

You're in NJ. If the weather there is anywhere close to Maryland's lately, then you've had 100 plus degree days for the past week so the underhood temps are definitely going to be higher especially with the AC cranking.

Pull them off if you don't feel comfortable and wait for the temp to go down to a cool 95*

If there was a major issue with heat......I don't think GM would put them on their flagship. Just my $.02

I think the Trailblazer SS guys are having luck with pulling theirs off. Of course they are HUGE and cover the whole motor.

This is the second thread I've read that included posts like this from you. You sound incredibly childish and it's already getting old. You need to calm your guns or you're going on a vacation. If you'd like to ramble on with your "do you even own an LS1" bullshit, please do so in one of the ricer forums or on LS1.com.
