Cut-Out, HP Gains/Placement??
I was wondering how much actual HP/TQ gains you would see with an open cut out on a bolt-on or possibly cammed bolt-on car with LTs,ORY, and an already free flowing catback system. Also where is the best place to put it?

yeah the gains are goin to depend on whats behind it, with a stock system it will give you 15 HP but if you added a catback that gives you 15 HP then dont expect too much more except for some sound

Although this wasn't a "run it closed, then run it open" test on the same day, it WAS on the same dyno. But I was 6 rwhp more than the previous time through the Hooker catback with only bolt-ons. The torque stayed the same as the previous time I was there.
Oh well, I didn't get it to try and gain alot of HP, I got it for when the cam goes in! So I can hear that lope!

All i have is a stock cat-back with a magnaflow muffler, and I just put a cutout in.
So I am hoping decent gains because the stock system should be still a bit restrictive.
40 Bux installed, and it is not that loud IMO. I am very happy with the sound when it is open.
If you want loud, that was my SRT-4 open downpipe, Sounded like a Detroit diesel.

I love my cut-out, I cant say that I feel a HUGE differnce in power when its closed vs. open, but it is there, and that sound when it is open at WOT is awsome, My cut-out is almost always open, except when my girl friend is in the car, Get an electric cut-out and you wont be dissapointed, Loud when you want it to be, then flip a switch and its quiet again, great mod.

I think thats something I will waste $300 on doing later because I would want a good electric one. Ive heard numberous stories about them ******* up and leaking though so I guess I will have to research and find the one with the LEAST issues HAHA. I can put that money towards something more important for now. Thanks everyone!
