- did the coolant by pass on the tb.
it was a very noticable gain, enough to make me want to go re dyno...glad i did! Im stoked!

I'm glad it worked out for you. I think I am going to save up so I can just do an electric pump at the same time I do a H/C setup so I don't have to spill the antifreeze twice. What did you wire it to?

I used the ground right by the fuse boxes,
and because it has to have an "ignition hot" power source i used the ignition fuse location. I pulled the fuse, then tested the slots to see what was the ignition hot slot....and i put the wire in there and put the fuse back.

Only hard part was i had to modify my thermostat housing to get a SBC thermostat to fit....then grind down a little bit of material from the bottom of the TB bracket so it didnt hit the top of the pump.

pretty good gain, but I bet you are getting a bit more than an n/a car would ever see. hopefully your blower is turning a bit easiler with out that pump on there.

I don't think he's running the s\c, but I bet it would have made a bigger difference with that set up.

oh yea if you're not running a blower those gains are borderline astounding, especially since you dynoed in 92 degree temperature! that's really great man.

LS1's are ****. What other car can you make more power by swapping to an N/A H/C setup than a blower?

Those gains look very nice, I'm on the edge of buying one for myself.

I hate to bring some sobriety to this thread but you cant compare small gains like this on different dyno's....hell, you cant compare any types of gains on different dyno's. There are too many variables with the weather stations and the equipment. Not to mention this test had a host of other changes that may or may not have had an effect on the results.

Don't get me wrong....I am a big fan off the Mezeirre EWP and I have been running one for quite some time, but dont purchase it because you think you are going to see 10-20 HP....its NOT going to happen. Other back to back testing on the same equipment has shown half of those gains (5-7 HP), but it does look good and it will cool better than a factory pump....LOL

Also, its invaluable for proper cool down between dyno runs helping to eliminate heat soak which can make tuning a car much more time consuming and inaccurate. For me, the chassis dyno benefits alone warrant the purchase....the fact it also frees up a few pony's is simply a bonus.

what Tony said, you won't see anymore than 5-7 out of it top. It's kinda like that last ditch effort to get power n/a.

I think that I will run one in the future, but not for the power. Cause that won't be a problem.

i disagree ...i dont think its a last ditch idea...its a great mod for a stock ls1...especially if your stock unit goes out. Car runs cooler, looks cooler, and makes more power...some more than others.
(most know this) But By getting rid of the belt driven pump you instantly gain power because its not rotating as much force, thus gaining some hp...just like the short belt mod...bypassing the power steering...its almost always shows 10hp..sometimes a few more because of that.
I am not claiming this to be a instant 28hp....but with the other two things in account..i believe its accurate.

The shop i dynoed at this time has had one car go to three different dynos in the local area and all three places dynoed within 1 hp of eachother..he had graphs to show it.
He makes a serious point at making all weather and corrective factors correct.
In fact the temp and humidity were almost identical to the other dyno graph.

I just personally feel this to be accurate..but i will dyno on the first dyno again..just to compare...but the owner says himself that it tends to be stingy. so we will see.

I was always concerned with reliability, and for a while they seemed to be dropping like flies. Has the reliability gotten to the point where street driving (even trips) would not be a concern?

I believe the street versions are warranted for 3000 hours. They sell a drag only version and a street version. I will be upgrading to this set-up along with a Be Cool radiator in the near future. How they can tell how many hours are on the pump for warranty work is beyond me.
