Default Free Ram Air...

Soooo, this question has probably been asked a few times, but i'm newb, so i get to ask again.

Is this seemingly easy fix for more air really as easy and straightforward as it sounds?

http://www.fbody.com/tech/details.cgi?id=54

I don't know enough to know if there could be consequences for this. I kinda buy the whole "they restricted the f-bodies so that they would not outperform the corvette", but i duno.

the filter will get dirtier quicker, also it may cause the air temp to warm up, but you need that free mod to do the CAI kits

but its very easy to do. I did mine with an air saw but then again im at a body shop so I can have that done in 2 mins flat

like 1000 miles quick, or 15,000 miles quick? :o

and i wouldn't do this by myself most likely, one of the mechanical dudes at work wants to help me out.

EDIT: i'm an EE, so i don't trust myself with my car unless i'm rewiring the stereo.

I actually reversed mine and it seems to run better. It's hot as hell here all summer though, not sure what this "heat wave" is the whole country is crying about

Easy stuff. Oh well, always better to ask first than to go ahead and screw something up.

You should deffinatley do it. I didnt do the free mod but I bought the whisper kit and picked up .2 of a second and 2MPH with the mod. My filter tends to get dirty 2000-3000 miles, its not a big deal I just clean It when I change my oil. Good luck!

Easy as pie. Look up SSRA or FTRA and throw one of those in.

BTW - The LS1 f-bodies are not "restricted", they are just under-rated. The same LS1 is in all of them. The stock f-bodies have even been known to dyno higher due to the solid axle vs. the IRS sported by the 'vette.
