Thinking about doing this mod, is it worth it?

Yeah, it's free. It let's the throttle blade open up more. Don't let it go past 90* though or you will be in some trouble.

Buttin' in here guys, but noboby answers me on this. Do you have to tighten the throttle cable after this? Mines pretty loose anyways.

This has nothing to do with the throttle cable. All this does is removes some material from the bump stop on the throttle body so that the blades are actually open and paralelle to the incoming airflow.

You may well have a bump-stop that allows the blade
to open fully, but a cable with so much slack that you
can't make it. It -all- needs to be snug, and one key
piece from the throttle cable pulley cluster to the pedal
is non-adjustable.

Get the bump-stop to where it will open to dead center
by ruler, then see if your pedal, matted, will get you
there. If not, fabricate a spacer or bend the pedal arm.

...... just make sure you are getting 0% throttle at idle and don't worry about it... jeez; free mods aren't what they are cracked up to be in my opinion. research before doing your mods and think about what can or can't happen after you do them

They probably would have done a heads and cam swap too. I wouldn't bother with those either since GM didn't....

The reason why its like that is the poor quality of cast and molding that they do for the TB's it would cost to much money to get everything right on the car.

I wouldn't go as far to say that. GM should be able to cast it right to begin with. I mean if I go by what you are saying the head can be cast with half the exhaust port closed haha.

And put a real rear axle under the car. And given it true duals from the factory. And had a fully adjustable suspension stock. Heck, why not put a big ol' twin screw blower on it?

Bottom line is, at some point no matter what the car company, they all say "thats enough" eventually, or worse "that's good enough". That second phrase has lead to the demise of many things...
