I went to Autozone and bought their socket for later GM cars. I think it fits either 1 1/8 and 1/4 or 1 1/16 and 1 1/8, I don't remember which. You'll see it when you get there. Worked great for me and it was like $4-5.

What exactly does it say on your socket and what brand is it?

I just went through the same trouble...

Go to autozone.. I bought a generic "1-1/16 Oil Pressure sensor Socket" I recommend you to bring the actual sensor with you, several of the sockets they had were not deep enough so make sure. I only paid $5.99.
